This Cookie Policy explains how Zivly Technologies Inc. (“Zivly”) uses cookies, browser local storage, session storage, and similar tracking technologies on the Zivly platform and website. This policy forms part of our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you consent to our use of these technologies. You may withdraw consent by adjusting browser settings (see Section 5), noting that doing so may impair platform functionality.
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include browser local storage, session storage, and server-side session management. We use these to enable core functionality, remember preferences, analyze usage, and maintain security.
2. Cookies We Use
Category 1: Strictly Necessary (cannot be disabled)
Essential for the platform to function. Do not require consent under Canadian privacy law as they are necessary to the service you have requested.
- Firebase Authentication tokens: keep you logged in and identify your authenticated session.
- CSRF protection tokens: prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
- Stripe.js cookies: set by Stripe's payment library in your browser for fraud prevention and payment security. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Session state: local-storage entries maintaining your active session within the platform.
Category 2: Analytics and Performance (consent required)
- PostHog: product analytics, error tracking, and session monitoring. Collects page visits, feature interactions, session duration, and error events. See posthog.com/privacy.
- Google Analytics: used on our marketing website (zivly.ca) for traffic and behaviour analytics. Data is anonymized where possible. Opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Category 3: Functional (consent required)
Enhance functionality and personalization: remembering your selected business location, language preferences, and UI layout settings.
Category 4: Infrastructure Caching (server-side only - no browser cookies)
Upstash Redis is used for server-side caching of session data. This is handled entirely server-side and does not place cookies in your browser.
3. Third-Party Cookies
The following third parties may set their own tracking technologies:
- Google (Firebase, Maps, Analytics): policies.google.com/privacy
- Stripe: stripe.com/privacy
- PostHog: posthog.com/privacy
Zivly does not control third-party tracking technologies and is not responsible for their data practices.
4. Cookie Duration
- Session cookies: deleted when you close your browser. Used primarily for authentication session management.
- Persistent cookies: authentication tokens may persist up to 30 days (or until logout). Analytics cookies may persist up to 12 months.
5. Managing and Withdrawing Consent
- Browser settings: view, block, or delete cookies via your browser's Privacy/Security settings.
- Google Analytics opt-out: install the opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- PostHog opt-out: contact [email protected] to request opt-out from PostHog analytics.
- Do Not Track: our platform does not currently respond to DNT signals as no universal standard has been adopted in Canada.
Important: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using core platform features. Blocking analytics or functional cookies will not prevent use of core features.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by updating the Effective Date and notifying users by email. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
