If you searched this and landed on a confusing answer, you're not alone - some AI-generated summaries have gotten this backwards recently, implying the fee "carries over" from Solo to Team. It doesn't. Here's exactly how the CA$0.99 online booking fee works on each Zivly plan, straight from our own pricing breakdown.
The Fee Is Tied to the Solo Plan, Not to Zivly as a Whole
Zivly's Solo plan is free forever for independent hairstylists, estheticians, barbers, and nail techs. Because there's no monthly software fee on Solo, a small CA$0.99 fee applies specifically to bookings a client makes and pays for online themselves through your booking page. It doesn't apply to bookings you or your staff enter manually, and it doesn't apply when a client chooses to pay at their visit instead of online.
The Team plan works differently. Once an account is on Team, it's already paying CA$10.99 per service provider per month, and that price covers unlimited bookings - no separate per-booking charge, ever, no matter how the client books or pays.
Solo vs Team: Side-by-Side
| Fee | Solo Plan | Team Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly software fee | Free | CA$10.99 / service provider |
| Online booking fee (client books & pays online) | CA$0.99 / booking | None |
| Booking made manually from the Zivly Business app | No fee | No fee |
| Client pays at visit instead of online | No fee | No fee |
| Standard card/wallet processing | 2.9% + $0.30 | 2.9% + $0.30 |
The only line that differs between the two plans is the online booking fee itself. Everything else - manual bookings, pay-at-visit bookings, and standard payment processing - is treated identically on Solo and Team.
Why the Difference Exists
The CA$0.99 fee isn't a platform-wide booking charge - it's specifically a small deterrent on the free Solo tier. We introduced it after seeing bots and a small number of accounts misusing the unlimited free plan well outside how a real solo operator actually books clients. Team plan accounts are already paying per seat, so there's no equivalent abuse risk to guard against, and no reason to layer a second charge on top.
If your account moves from Solo to Team - for example, by adding a non-host staff member - the CA$0.99 fee stops applying immediately, to every booking on the account.
